In March 2003, I moved to London to pursue a career in web design, having completed an MSc. in Multimedia Systems at Trinity College Dublin. I joined the IT Research & Development Unit (ITRDU) at the University of the Arts London in August 2003 and have designed and developed several websites for the University's five constituent colleges, including Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design.
Before embarking on a career in multimedia, I was Exhibitions Curator at the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art in Dublin for 5 years. My job there was exciting, demanding and extremely varied - and included co-ordinating and publishing exhibition catalogues; co-ordinating advertising and PR campaigns; managing large budgets and project managing the design and development of the Gallery's website. Whilst working in the Gallery, I had the opportunity to dabble in design, producing flyers and posters for the smaller budget exhibitions. I grew to love it more than my job as curator! Finally, as project manager for the Gallery's new website, I decided that I'd much rather be the designer than the client.
I have recently begun taking on freelance projects to vary and build upon my experience and portfolio.
